Great New Flight Options for Travel to Barcelona

I’ll admit… prior to my recent trip to Spain this month, I had never heard of Level Airlines before. But when it came to my choices for flying from JFK to Barcelona, Level came up as one of my top options for flying to this amazing city.

Upon doing a little more research, I learned that, in addition to flying to over 75+ destinations in Europe, Level flies direct to Barcelona from San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Miami and Boston. And with the multitude of LGBTQ+ events happening in this area over the next 12 months, I have a strong feeling Level is going to become a new airline of choice for many LGBTQ+ travelers flying to Spain from North America, as well as Santiago and Buenos Aires in South America.

Events just off the top of my head include some of the various festivities in Sitges, as well as Barcelona. In addition, the Gay Games 2026 are to be held in Valencia, just a short flight or train ride away, and the IGLTA Convention is set to be held in Seville shortly thereafter. I recently came back from Girona, just an hour north of Barcelona, with some friends and family doing a cycling vacation and training ride in advance of the AIDS LifeCycle Ride that was recently held in California. So, so many reasons to travel to this area of Spain!

My experience on Level, flying into Spain and returning home, was perfect. Flying into Spain, the flight was an overnight one, so I was able to sleep for most of the flight in and arrive in Barcelona in OK shape for that first day. The food was good, and I was able to order what I wanted in advance through their website, allowing me to make sure I wasn’t stuck with the veggie option as a last resort when the other options ran out.

The same went for my flight home, although this time I was awake for the full flight and spent most of my times watching movies on their in-flight entertainment system. They took good care of us all with their food and beverage options and made the 9-hour trip simple and easy, arriving back in New York City feeling decently rested and ready for my trip home.

All in all, I’d say it’s nice to have options and choices when we travel, and I’m so glad to know that for my next trips in to Barcelona and the surrounding area, Level is there, both with great travel routes and pricing the next time Spain calls me in for a visit!
