Creates Transgender “Bliss Beach” during Riptide at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Waterpark event
One Magical Weekend, one of the largest LGBTQ+ yearly gatherings, held at Walt Disney World® Resorts in Orlando the first weekend of every June, is proud to announce that Bliss CARES has signed on as a sponsor to present “Bliss Beach” during the Riptide at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Waterpark event on Friday, May 31, 2019.
“The addition of Bliss Beach to Riptide will create a space where our transgender brothers and sisters can ‘Mix, Mingle and Relax’ with other transgender individuals from around the world” said Tom Christ of One Magical Weekend. “Transgender individuals are being disparaged all around the world, even here in the US where they are currently under fire for wanting nothing more than to show their patriotism and fight for our country. We want them to know they are welcome and loved, not only at our Riptide event, but all our events during the weekend.”

One Magical Weekend – One Magical Weekend presents one of the largest LGBTQ gatherings from around the world every first weekend in June in Orlando. This year is the 29th year of the event at Disney, and the 11th year of One Magical Weekend. The weekend, starting on Thursday, May 30th is four days of events, including Riptide at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Waterpark on Friday, Red Volume IV “Galaxy” on Saturday at Disney Springs House of Blues, and WIG Party on Sunday held at the Official Host Hotel – the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista. Mixed in are the daily Therapy Pool parties: Flamingo Friday, Red & Wild Saturday and Emoji Sunday, along with the Cadabra after hours events. Bliss CARES – Bliss CARES is a non-profit organization based in Orlando, dedicated to serving the Central Florida community that is affected by HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, and STDs. Our mission is to save lives by treating and preventing the spread of these infectious diseases. They strive to serve everyone who walks through their doors, regardless of ability to pay. Bliss Cares assists individuals who cannot afford medical care; this includes doctor visits, testing, medication, mental health, transgender health and care management. Many of our clients have insurance but cannot afford their deductibles or co-pays. Some have no insurance. They are actively working in the Central Florida community, partnering with other agencies, to educate individuals and raise awareness regarding HIV, Hepatitis and STDs.
