Feature-Length LGBTQ Rom-Com, Analysis Paralysis, Now Released on Amazon, iTunes and Google Play

From the writers & producers of THE PERFECT WEDDING: Boy wants to meet boy, but boy’s got a few issues…

Award-winning writer, actor, and producer Jason T. Gaffney  has a lot to be grateful for these days! His latest feature-length LGBTQ rom-com, Analysis Paralysis was just released on Amazon, iTunes and Google Play.

Analysis Paralysis is a film about the intersection of imagination and anxiety, and the courage to reach for love. The film tells the story of Tyler O’Conner (Jason Gaffney), a young gay author, who discovers that he suffers from an anxiety disorder commonly called “Analysis Paralysis” — an inability to take action without imagining the ways that each possible choice could go wrong. The problem is that, unchecked, the condition will lead Tyler into a state of complete inaction.

To confront the disorder, Tyler decides to fight through his anxiety and ask his cute neighbor, Shane (Kevin Held), out for coffee. Despite a flurry of imagined disasters, the date goes well, and Shane and Tyler ultimately become involved. Against all odds, the relationship moves forward, but not without every step of the way preceded by an avalanche of negative, albeit hilarious, fantasies.

Analysis Paralysis was co-written by the gay son/straight father team of Jason T. Gaffney and Ed Gaffney, and marks Jason’s directorial debut.

Jason’s husband Matt Gorlick, his mother New York Times Bestselling Author Suzanne Brockmann, and his cousin Jack Gravina helped produce it, making it a family-made film. with a crew featuring a predominantly female camera crew, with an LGBTQ cinematographer.

What makes this film special is the unusual way it tackles the issue of Mental Illness and the endeavor to break Hollywood stereotypes when it comes to LGBTQ representation on screen.

Jason T. Gaffney has been  struggling with anxiety his whole life and decided for this film to tackle extreme anxiety with a comedic slant, which is not often seen in tales of mental illness.

Most movies that deal with mental illness or depression tend to show its character(s) in a very dramatic light. And while the issues are of course serious and not to be taken lightly, the people suffering from them aren’t always walking around in a haze, and do know how to laugh.

As we’ve seen to date, the majority of LGBTQ films mostly feature coming out stories or stories of struggle or stories that rely on the stereotypes of their sexuality, but this movie does not. Refreshingly, Analysis Paralysis is a romantic LGBTQ+  movie about two out gay men—played by out gay actors—who meet and fall in love, set in a world where their being gay doesn’t provide any of the conflict.

“As a filmmaker, my goal is to make movies set in the inclusive, welcoming, LGBTQ-friendly world where I grew up. My “coming out at age fifteen” story was basically my mom kissing me, and saying “I know. I love you. Where did you put your dirty socks, I’m doing a load of laundry…”.  And although there’s definitely still an important place in LGBTQ films for angsty coming-out dramas, I just don’t see my own reflection in those stories,” says Jason T. Gaffney.

As the driving force behind My Pet Hippo Productions, Jason and his husband Matt’s independent film company, the duo’s artistic direction is focused on one goal: to shine a different spotlight on the entertainment community as it pertains to LGBTQ individuals, but also on any culture in Hollywood who is marginalized, simply because of their race, sexuality, or gender.

Breaking the mold, and playing it bold, they’re successfully planting the seeds to do just that with Analysis Paralysis, the romantic comedy, The Perfect Wedding, and the thriller, Russian Doll, both distributed by Wolfe Releasing.

Analysis Paralysis travelled the festival circuit successfully, snatching the “ Favorite Film “ Prize at Cinema Diverse, and went on to enjoy a brief theatrical run in Palm Springs.
