Tyler’s Suite: Creating a Lasting Culture of Kindness through the Power of Music

The Phoenix Metropolitan Men’s Chorus, the flagship for Grand Canyon Performing Arts will be performing the highly lauded nine-piece choral movement dedicated to the memory of Tyler Clementi. Tyler was a young musician who died by suicide after being bullied by his roommate during his first weeks of college. We invite the community to attend this powerful collection of music for free has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 7:00pm.

We are honored that members of the Tyler Clementi Foundation will be joining us during the performances. If you had reserved tickets to our originally scheduled performance, your tickets have automatically transferred to the May 12 date. Tickets are free, but you will need to register and reserve your seating at www.phoenixmenschorus.org.

Created under the leadership of Composer Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin) and Dr. Timothy Seelig (Conductor/Artistic Director of the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus), Tyler’s Suite explores the voices and experiences of Tyler and his family through the music of nine of today’s top composers, including Ann Hampton Callaway and Stephen Schwartz. This powerful collection of songs moves audiences and singers alike and ultimately shines a light of hope for a safer, kinder world in line with the mission of the Tyler Clementi Foundation, which works to end all forms of online and offline bullying in schools, workplaces, and faith communities.

“It is with honor and humility that we are performing this heart filled concert. Our mission continues to stand up to bullying through the power of music. As Upstanders to bullying, we carry a message about suicide risk facing many LGBT youth, where they can be three to seven times more at risk for suicide than other youth. Please join us and stand strong with our community. It takes everyone to help stop online and offline bullying till everyone feels safe being themselves”
– Marc Gaston, Artistic Director, Phoenix Metropolitan Men’s Chorus

The event will be held at the Parsons Center for Health & Wellness – 1101 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85004. Tickets can be reserved for free at http://www.phoenixmenschorus.org.
